Ms. Bogard just wrapped her fifth year of teaching at Westlake. She's known for championing student well-being. Before teaching English, Ms. Bogard worked as a writer, editor, and Licensed Professional Counselor. Student Siena Brennan sums it up best, "Thank you for being such an amazing English teacher! I don't think I could have gotten through freshman year without your support!" 💡 Why donate to EEF when our property taxes pay 💡 Why donate to EEF when our property taxes pay for our schools? 📚 Texas public schools are funded by a complex combination of state and local funding, including local property taxes. However, some of those local property taxes leave property-wealthy districts under state "recapture". 9️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ In Eanes ISD, approximately 60% - that's $95,000,000 - is taken by the state to pay for other legislative priorities, which can include non-educational matters. This means a majority of our property taxes do not pay for our district schools. ✍ Remaining property tax revenue is added to any in-district state funds but can only be used for "maintenance & operations" matters like student services, facility maintenance & operation, and educator salaries. A school district can gain voter approval for additional "I&S" (debt service) revenue to fund new facilities or renovations. 💯 In contrast to local property tax revenue, 100% of your EEF donations stay in Eanes ISD. 100% of those donations fund educator salaries. 🔢 The Eanes ISD @eanesisd budget line item #5744 (revenue) + line item #6100 (expenditures) specifically notes, "EEF donations are designated for the sole purpose of supporting teacher salaries on all campuses, including positions not required by the State of Texas." 🤝 Given this complicated state + local property tax funding structure, your EEF donations are vital to Eanes ISD's ability to pay educator salaries. 👂 Stay tuned for more details about how Texas public schools are funded and your important role in sustaining Eanes excellence . . . #WeFundTeachers #PublicSchools #SupportPublicSchools #EmpowerEanes #EanesISD
